No one has an obligation to explain how they feel to you, so don’t ask.
But there are plenty of articles that detail the mindsets of those that join in the destruction.
There are plenty of peaceful protesters at these events.
There are also plenty of folks taking advantage of the chaos with the sole purpose of causing destruction.
As well as plenty of people doing the destruction to discredit the protests.
But then there are those that feel like the destruction is the only way to be heard and history has a whole lot of examples of that working.
I am a privileged white guy.
My negative interactions with cops have, at the most, been mildly annoying. While I’m not the type to join in on the destruction, I am also reluctant to judge it from some misguided superiority complex of peacefulness.
