I probably could’ve gone with less obscure dialogue in that last panel. But I just really wanted to make fun of the “in your heart, you know he’s right” slogan that Goldwater apparently had, just to further mock the turkey’s political views. Once again, the Gideon strips have given me more 60s trivia to know about. Though, I’m not sure if that slogan was Goldwater’s most popular one.
Also, this strip is heavily inspired by photos that I saw of LBJ with a turkey in 1967.
